Sessions: Withdraw the warrant for DisruptJ20 IP addresses>> Ann-- Last week advocates of free speech were shaken by the Justice Department's warrant to web hosting platform DreamHost demanding the personal information and IP addresses of the 1.3 million people who visited DisruptJ20.org. DisruptJ20 is the group that organized mass protests in response to Trump's inauguration where over 200 activists were arrested. This news is absolutely chilling. Sessions' DOJ is fighting to access these IP addresses as well as of thousands of site visitors' personal information including contact information, email content, and photos in a clear attempt to intimidate anti-Trump dissidents. The DOJ needs to know that the resistance will not be stopped by their overreach and scare tactics. Tell the DOJ: stop your attempt to criminalize anti-Trump protesters! The consequences of this action could be broad -- Americans may be intimidated about exercising their First Amendment rights to free speech and protest if they think the government will collect their information and potentially put them on a watch list. Protests against Trump and the white supremacists who feel emboldened by him -- from the inauguration to Charlottesville -- have demonstrated the power of resisting hatred, white supremacy, and bigotry. And the DOJ wants to quell that dissent by demanding to access the personal information of everyone who accessed DisruptJ20.org. The First Amendment protects our freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. Time and again Trump has proven little respect for rule of law and the voices of opposition to his agenda. But we know how critical it is to speak out at times like this, and we will not tolerate this attempt to weaken the First Amendment. Thank you for all that you do, Katie O'Connell, Digital Communications Coordinator
