To avert a government shutdown in March, Congress approved $1.6 billion for a border wall with Mexico, giving Donald Trump the green light to waste valuable taxpayer dollars -- not to mention putting their stamp of approval on his administration’s dangerous immigration agenda.
Now they’re poised to do it again: Trump is threatening to shut down the government in September if he doesn’t receive $25 billion more for his senseless wall. Further funding these actions would be a disaster -- tearing families apart, creating environmental destruction at the border, further militarization of the borderlands terrorizing communities, and severely misusing taxpayer funds. We can’t let that happen, which is why our coalition stands in solidarity with immigrants, refugees, Muslims and all those who are threatened by the Trump administration.
