President Trump has fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions and appointed a political lackey, Matt Whitaker, as acting Attorney General. Never before have Trump's efforts to undermine the Mueller investigation been so blatant. We must protect Mueller.

Given Whitaker's public and well-documented hostility towards the Mueller investigation he should immediately recuse himself from overseeing the investigation, but given how unlikely that is to occur, Congress MUST step up to protect Mueller and allow the investigation to proceed without interference from Trump.
There's currently a bipartisan bill in Congress, the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act, that would ensure that Special Counsel Robert Mueller would be able to conduct his investigation independently and beyond the reach of President Trump. This bill would establish a much-needed firewall between the Trump Administration and the special counsel's office.

As Mueller's investigation inches closer to President Trump -- Donald Trump Jr. expects to be indicted any day now[1] -- he is growing increasingly alarmed and angered by Mueller and the investigation into his campaign.
