This weekend’s “Unite the Right” white supremacist gathering in Charlottesville, Virginia is the latest example of a growing nationwide trend in public acts of hate aimed at racial, ethnic, and religious minorities.

The silence from the very top of our federal government is emboldening these racists every single day.
President Trump’s cowardly response -- in which he condemned hatred “on all sides,” thereby equating violent racists with the people who were in Charlottesville to counter their hateful message -- was a national disgrace. But, sadly, it was consistent with what we’ve seen from this administration in response -- or lack thereof -- to emboldened white nationalists and recent hate crimes directed at Muslims, immigrants, and others.
A mosque was bombed in Minnesota last week and we have yet to hear a word from Trump in condemnation. And after a Nazi-admiring white supremacist plowed his car into a crowd in Charlottesville, killing one 32-year-old woman and injuring many others, alt-righters celebrated Trump’s refusal to call them out … and white nationalist organizers are already planning their next mass gatherings in Virginia and Texas.
It’s time for Trump to end his shameful silence on bigoted acts of violence and the white nationalist Right. The so-called alt-Right among his most committed supporters, but their support should not be welcomed by ANY elected official -- ESPECIALLY the president.

Speak out now if you agree that it’s unacceptable for our president to refuse to call out and condemn hate-motivated violence and domestic terrorism by white supremacists.

Elected leaders of both parties -- even some of the most conservative Republicans in Congress -- are joining the chorus of millions of Americans challenging the president to be honest and explicit in his condemnation of white supremacy and racism … and to call the acts of violence motivated by this hate what they are: domestic terrorism.

P.S. While Trump apparently hasn’t had the time to correct his response to Charlottesville, he did have the time to tweet out criticism this morning of Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier. Frazier, who is African American, had announced he was leaving the president’s American Manufacturing Council over Trump’s Charlottesville response.
