They marched as a group around Charlottesville, carrying torches, waving swastikas, chanting Nazi slogans and other racist and anti-Semitic chants. One of them killed a woman and injured 19 others when he plowed his car into a crowd of counter-protesters who were there to defend American values against the "Unite the Right" rally's message of hate.
Trump said they were not all white supremacists … that many of them were, in fact, "fine people." He said the violence should be blamed on "both sides."
People For the American Way and PFAW's African American Ministers In Action network are calling on Congress not to let this stand, and to hold Trump accountable for preaching hate from the White House.

US Reps. Jerrold Nadler, Bonnie Watson Coleman, and Pramila Jayapal are introducing a resolution to censure Donald Trump for refusing to condemn the KKK and Nazis, and for employing white nationalists -- like Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, and Sebastian Gorka -- in his White House. The censure will also call on Trump to fire those advisors with deep ties to the so-called "Alt-Right" -- something PFAW is also already calling for.
A petition delivery is being planned for as early as TOMORROW, so your signature is needed right away, friend.
It's not good enough that Congress speak out against violent white supremacists. They must speak out against a president who enables and emboldens them with both his rhetoric and his policies.
The continued rise of the hate and hate-inspired violence in this country will not stop until our leaders make it crystal clear that Trump's kowtowing to white nationalists and his continued attacks on communities of color are unacceptable.
That's why a censure should be such a no-brainer. A censure is a formal reprimand by Congress of an individual whose actions are beneath the dignity of the office they hold.
Trump's inability to hold white supremacists accountable and do something as simple as take a stand against Nazis is not the America we want to see.
The entire nation rallied together to fight and defeat the Nazis the first time around. Now, the president of the Unites States can't even speak out against them. It's shameful, and it tarnishes the presidency and our entire country.
Speak out now. Support the censure. And then help spread the word after you sign the petition.
