Friend, One of the worst assaults in 2017 by the Trump administration and its allies in Congress was the aggressive packing of our federal courts with radically ideological, deeply unqualified, and otherwise unfit judges. Last week, Donald Trump re-nominated more than 20 of his judicial nominees from 2017 who had not received confirmation by the end of the year – many of them very extreme, and including at least one who LIED to the Judiciary Committee during his hearing last year. Republican leadership in the Senate, however, seems intent on continuing to rubber-stamp Trump’s nominees -- unless we stop them. Along with our partners, we have nearly 175,000 signatures demanding that Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley STOP rubber-stamping Trump’s judicial nominees. Will you help us get to 200,000 by the end of the week? Sign now: Tell Sen. Grassley NO MORE rubber-stamping Trump’s judicial picks!>> Thank you, Supporter, Republicans in the Senate have begun a mad dash to rush confirmation of as many of Donald Trump's extreme judicial nominees as they can before the end of the year. They're using their majority to change longstanding rules and traditions and ramming through these nominees for lifetime federal court seats -- many of whom are completely unfit for the bench -- with little or no debate. The charge is being led by Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley -- the same Chuck Grassley who once promised to uphold the same Senate traditions he is now ending and who, over the weekend, defended deep cuts to the Estate Tax by saying that the more than 99.8% of Americans who are not subject to that tax are less deserving of tax cuts because they'd spend all of the money "on booze or women or movies." Tell Chairman Grassley: It's not too late to make a better decision, one in line with your original promise to the American public. Take action now and stop any scheduled hearings for judicial nominees until they receive approval from their home state Senators. Sen. Grassley's Judiciary Committee chairmanship has been a disaster, defined by hypocrisy and a flagrant disregard for the core constitutional principles of checks and balances and the "advice and consent" role of senators -- which is also supposed to extend to senators of the minority party. However, we still have a chance to stop some of Trump's most bigoted, unqualified, and unethical nominees before the end of the year if we can put enough pressure on Grassley to stop stacking committee hearings and votes, stop steamrolling Democratic senators, and stop acting as a rubber stamp for any Trump nominee, no matter how unfit.
