People for the American Way

Supporter,

Affirmative action has been a GOP target for a long time. They’ve used a range of strategies, including unsuccessfully attacking diversity admissions in court.

Just last year SCOTUS upheld the constitutionality of diversity conscious admissions policies. But now, with Trump as president and Republicans like Jeff Sessions in charge of the Department of Justice, opponents of affirmative action see an opportunity to do real damage to diversity conscious admissions policies across the states.

Recently, the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ announced it would investigate allegations of admissions policies discriminating against white students, despite such claims usually lacking evidence to back them up. In fact, as higher education advocates know, diversity conscious admissions policies not only benefit historically marginalized groups but also the system as a whole.

Sign the petition from PFAW and our partners to demand that Trump’s DOJ stops its attacks against civil rights and diversity in higher education>>

Thank you for everything you do!
