Trump’s sham 'election integrity' commission is all about voter suppression - end it now

People for the American Way

Supporter,

On Monday, a group of Democratic senators on the Judiciary Committee sent a letter to the Department of Justice demanding that it explain any coordination it has had with Trump’s voter suppression commission.

This follows a FOIA request filed by PFAW to get the same answers … and we’re glad that US senators agree that it’s important to expose the true nature of Trump’s sham voting commission and to rein in its voter suppression agenda.

Sam Levine at the Huffington Post wrote, “These Democrats aren’t buying that the Justice Department is independent from the president’s commission.” And neither are we…

We’ve already seen mounting evidence that strongly suggests that the DOJ has been involved in both the formation of the commission and coordination with the commission’s work.

The commission is a SHAM, through and through.

Voter suppression -- whether in the form of restrictive ID laws, racial gerrymandering, voter intimidation, or any number of other discriminatory tactics used to keep eligible voters from the polls -- is the real problem that must be addressed ... not outlandish conspiracy theories about mass illegal voting used by Trump as an excuse for his loss of the popular vote.

But the vote suppressors are running the show! Trump's commission includes some of the Right's most experienced experts in disenfranchising minority voters -- including Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, the Heritage Foundation's Hans von Spakovsky, and former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. The commission is modeling its witch hunt to find in-person voter fraud on Kobach's "Crosscheck" program -- a program designed to justify massive voter roll purges that has been notorious for purging eligible voters.

Thanks again!
