U.S. Congress:

In the 2016 election, America was attacked by foreign adversaries with the intention of manipulating our elections and harming the American people. Now that president Trump has stated he would consider accepting information on political opponents from foreign governments, it is imperative that Congress move to ensure our elections do not continue to be manipulated by outside forces.

I demand that you support the FIRE Act to require campaigns report foreign attempts to interfere in elections to the FBI and FEC.

Trump’s comments earlier this week that he’d welcome foreign influence on his behalf in the next election should have every one of us – on all ends of the political spectrum – worried.

It’s urgent that Congress acts to make sure it’s clear to candidates for public office that foreign entities interfering in our elections is an attack on our democracy and cooperating with those attacks, besides being highly unethical and thoroughly unpatriotic (if not traitorous), could be illegal.

That’s why it’s imperative that Congress pass the Foreign Influence Reporting in Elections (FIRE) Act, a bill recently introduced by Senator Warner which would require campaigns to report foreign attempts to interfere in elections to the FBI and FEC.
