We need answers about the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Rep. Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) introduced the Congressional Oversight of Unjust Policing Act, or COUP Act, to establish a national commission to investigate the attack and any ties between white supremacists and the Capitol Police, address the systemic failures in the Capitol’s security and intelligence apparatus, and assess the practices for addressing bias – both conscious and unconscious – at all levels of the Capitol Police. To enable a rapid reassessment of Capitol security in the face of ongoing threats, it is vital that the House of Representatives pass the COUP Act immediately.

We need answers about the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. The more we learn about exactly what happened on January 6, the clearer it becomes that this was a coordinated effort by white supremacists to try to take over the U.S. government by force – and we need to know who was involved, how they were involved, and the true breadth of their seditious reach within the ranks of the Capitol Police.

In the House of Representatives, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) introduced the Congressional Oversight of Unjust Policing Act, or COUP Act, to answer those very questions.
