Urge the Senate to Pass the D.C. Statehood Bill!

U.S. SENATE:

In addition to being a serious racial equity issue – because a majority of the more than 700,000 disenfranchised D.C. residents are people of color – D.C. statehood is also a public safety issue. When violent insurrectionists attacked people on D.C. soil on January 6, the District’s government was powerless to send in their own National Guard without involving the Department of Defense. Preventing D.C from becoming a state is putting the city in danger. The people of our capital city deserve real self-determination, and now is our best-ever chance to help D.C. become our 51st state.

I demand the Senate pass the D.C. statehood bill without delay!

For only the second time in United States history, the U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill for D.C statehood -- H.R. 51 -- and sent it on to the Senate. Now we have to keep working hard to make sure that every Senator knows how critical it is that they support D.C. statehood.
