Following months of nationwide protests over the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others, the U.S. House of Representatives is poised to finally pass legislation that would address the need for systemic reforms to policing – including an end to anti-Black police violence.
While state and local officials have begun to evaluate changes to policing that will work best in their communities, it is the responsibility of our federal government to set a standard for justice, anti-racist policing, and safety in America. It is long past time for legislation to address these problems at the federal level, and it’s imperative that the House act immediately to pass this bill.
