Demand the Senate Pass the George Floyd Justice In Policing Act!

U.S. SENATE:

While deliberations in Congress continue regarding public safety reforms, it’s vital that baseline measures to ensure some necessary and overdue changes are incorporated. The Senate must move to pass a strong version of the Justice in Policing Act, that ensures there is accountability for police killings, bans on racial profiling, addresses qualified immunity for police, and more.

I urge you to support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act and ensure that its reforms are included in any bipartisan package passed by the Senate!

A year after the death of George Floyd and despite President Biden’s urge to get the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act signed into law, Congress still has not pass the bill. And while some local governments have moved to implement significant public safety reform, the federal government has done little.

While state and local officials have begun to evaluate changes to policing that will work best in their communities, it is the responsibility of our federal government to set a standard for justice, anti-racist policing, and safety in America. It is long past time for legislation to be passed that would address these problems at the federal level, and it’s imperative that the Senate act immediately in a meaningful way.

Urge your senators to support a robust public safety reform package – one that includes the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act!
