While the LGBTQ+ movement has made great strides over the years, LGBTQ+ people still aren't guaranteed nationwide the same federal protections from discrimination that are given to people based on their race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and religion. It’s vital that we ensure equal protection for everyone under the law, especially as the far right continues attacking both LGBTQ+ rights and the Equality Act itself.

Expanded civil rights protections for the LGBTQ+ community are within reach at long last. On February 25, the House passed the Equality Act, a bill that would extend fundamental civil rights protections to the LGBTQ+ community to prevent discrimination in individuals’ daily lives.
