While the LGBTQ+ movement has come a long way over the years, LGBTQ+ people still aren't guaranteed the same federal protections from discrimination that protect people on the basis of their race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and religion. A bipartisan bill recently passed in the House seeks to ensure that every person will be afforded equal protection under the law by making it illegal to discriminate on the basis of LGBTQ+ identity.

I urge you to pass the Equality Act in the Senate immediately and protect the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination.

The House just passed a bipartisan bill to explicitly prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and LGBTQ+ identity.

This landmark legislation would expand our nation’s civil rights laws to ensure that every person will be afforded equal protection under the law by making it illegal discriminate on the basis of LGBTQ+ identity.
