President Biden Must Lead on Voting Rights by Urging the Senate to End the Filibuster!

PRESIDENT BIDEN:

It’s clearer than ever that we will need both the voting rights protections in the For the People Act (S. 1) and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act (H.R. 4) in order to ensure that all eligible voters have access to the ballot box. President Biden, you must let nothing stand in the way of protecting our freedom to vote and ensuring fair elections. We need the Senate to end the filibuster so that robust voting rights legislation can succeed in Congress, and we need it to happen with enough time to be enacted before the 2022 midterms.

I demand that you lead on protecting and expanding voting rights by urging the Senate to end the filibuster immediately!

For the second time now, Senate Republicans have blocked critical voting rights legislation from moving forward. They have made it clear that they are actively trying to hold onto power by denying our freedom to vote.

With another disastrous voting rights decision by the Supreme Court this summer, it’s clearer than ever that we will need both the voting rights protections in the For the People Act (S. 1) and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act (H.R. 4) in order to ensure that all eligible voters – especially the voters of color who are targeted by right-wing lawmakers – have access to the ballot box.
