As President Biden’s nominees are considered in the Senate, the Far Right has set out to undermine them at every turn – particularly the women of color. They have been attacked by smear campaigns based on fake controversies and distortions of these women’s words and past actions in an attempt to sink their confirmations. These attacks have become part of a troubling trend to prevent these well-qualified leaders from being confirmed for these positions.
One of the nominees currently facing a deluge of right-wing misinformation is Deb Haaland, the administration’s choice to lead the U.S. Department of the Interior. For decades, the second-term House Representative from New Mexico has been fighting to preserve our natural resources for future generations, and both her career and life experience make her uniquely qualified to lead the Interior Department at this critical time. And as a current member of the Laguna Pueblo in New Mexico, Haaland would be the first Indigenous person ever serve in the cabinet, which would be an amazing, history-making victory.
But the Far Right has been doing everything they can to distort her record and halt her confirmation. Make her fight our fight by telling the Senate that they must confirm Deb Haaland to lead the U.S. Department of the Interior!
