Education fundamentally shapes who we become as adults – and the society in which we live. Learning about the lived experiences of Black and brown communities or of LGBTQ+ people can foster a deeper understanding and respect for difference. But anti-freedom extremists see any curriculum that covers these topics as a threat that must be banned from our classrooms and libraries.
People For firmly believes that the best way to counter the attacks and bigotry of these pro-censorship authoritarians is to build a multigenerational, multiracial movement in support of young people’s freedom to read and freedom to learn.
