Stop the PEPPER Act and Protect the Rule of Law

I urge you to oppose the PEPPER Act (H.R. 1789), a deeply dangerous bill that would allow federal officials – including the president and vice president – to escape accountability for breaking state laws. This legislation would let them transfer state civil or criminal cases to federal court, where those cases could be dismissed simply for being a so-called “distraction.” It creates a presumption of sweeping immunity, even for actions that have nothing to do with official duties, and it blocks judges from questioning those claims. No one should be above the law – not even the president. Please reject the PEPPER Act.

The PEPPER Act (H.R. 1789) is a blatant attempt to shield Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and other federal officials from facing consequences for breaking state laws. It would allow them to move state criminal and civil cases into federal courts – where MAGA-aligned judges could throw them out entirely. Even worse, the bill creates a presumption of total immunity for any action taken while in office, regardless of whether it was remotely related to their official duties.

This is not justice. It’s a roadmap to impunity.
