Stop Trump’s MAGA Slush Fund

U.S. CONGRESS:

Congress must immediately act to prevent any taxpayer funds from being used for the Trump administration’s $1.8 billion MAGA slush fund, including by blocking payments to Trump allies, donors, political operatives, former advisers, Republican lawmakers, and violent January 6 insurrectionists. No president should be allowed to use the Department of Justice to reward political loyalists, rewrite accountability as persecution, or operate a taxpayer funded fund with limited transparency and no meaningful public oversight.

I urge Congress to pass legislation prohibiting the use of federal funds for this corrupt scheme, require full public disclosure of any claims or attempted payments, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are never used to compensate those who tried to overturn an election, undermine the rule of law, or advance Trump’s campaign of revenge and self-protection.

The Trump administration has created a $1.8 billion MAGA slush fund that could send taxpayer money to Trump allies, donors, political operatives, former advisers, Republican lawmakers, and even violent January 6 insurrectionists.

This fund is being sold as compensation for people who claim they were ‘mistreated’ by the federal government, but the details are outrageous. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has said there is “no limitation on the claims” and acknowledged that Trump campaign donors could seek compensation. He also refused to rule out payouts to people who assaulted police officers during the January 6 insurrection.

What’s worse, this scheme could operate with limited transparency, leaving the public in the dark about who gets paid, how much they receive, and why their claims were approved.

Taxpayer dollars should not be used to reward Trump loyalists, rewrite January 6 as persecution, or turn MAGA grievance into a government funded payday.
