Stop the MAGA Power Grab

Speaker Mike Johnson, Leader John Thune, and the Republican Congressional Leadership:

I demand that you immediately end your attempts to use the reconciliation process to bypass bipartisan cooperation and force through a partisan funding agenda. The Senate has already demonstrated that a unanimous, bipartisan path forward exists to fund our essential agencies. Your decision to hold this funding hostage in favor of a $140 billion partisan "reconciliation" check for ICE and Border Patrol is a direct threat to the stability and safety of the United States. Stop the finger-pointing, reject the influence of the MAGA fringe, and bring the bipartisan Senate bill to the House floor for a vote immediately.

Right now, House Republicans are deliberately stalling critical funding for essential agencies – including the Secret Service, TSA, and FEMA. Why? Because the MAGA fringe refuses to pass anything that doesn't include a massive, $140 billion blank check for ICE and CBP, with no guardrails to protect the American people from abuse.

Instead of doing their job, Republican leadership is attempting to use the reconciliation process to bypass the bipartisan consensus that’s already been built. They want to jam through a partisan agenda that pours hundreds of billions into unaccountable immigration enforcement while leaving the rest of our government’s security infrastructure to wither.

We cannot allow a radical few to sidestep the bipartisan path that already exists and manipulate the process to fund their most extreme priorities. The Senate has already demonstrated that a unanimous, bipartisan path forward exists to fund our essential services, but Speaker Johnson and Leader Thune are choosing a partisan power grab over the safety of our country.
