Recent examples of Supreme Court justices refusing to recuse themselves from cases where there is an obvious or perceived potential conflict of interest have shaken Americans’ faith in the integrity and impartiality of our nation’s highest court.
The Supreme Court Ethics Act, introduced by Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Representative Hank Johnson (D-GA), would help remedy this situation by requiring the Judicial Conference of the United States to develop and implement a code of ethical conduct for the U.S. Supreme Court.
