Dreamers are our friends, our neighbors and members of the military. They have made our country stronger and boosted our economy. But Donald Trump is using them as pawns to further his administration’s extreme anti-immigrant agenda.

Ending DACA and subjecting nearly 800,000 young people to deportation is cruel, unjust and devastating to our communities. We urge Congress to immediately pass the Dream Act with a path to citizenship in order to permanently protect Dreamers and stand up to these attacks on our immigrant communities.

On September 5, 2017, President Trump ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which had allowed hundreds of thousands of young immigrants to work or go to school without fear of being deported. Since then, many DACA recipients have lived in immigration limbo as Congress has failed in passing an act that would provide comprehensive protection and a path to citizenship.

The time for Congress to pass the Dream Act is now.
